Buy Silver Coins Here
What is real money? I can give the Webster's dictionary version here: "something generally accepted as a medium of exchange, a measure of value, or a means of payment: as a: officially coined or stamped metal currency b: money of account c: paper money". My version is that money is that thing of value given to another party in exchange for something else of value, atleast to the parties involved. Sounds like the dictionary's version almost. So why didnt I just say that money is those greenish pieces of paper we carry around in our pockets with dead Presidents' faces on them? Because they are really not money at all. The key in both versions of our money definitions is the word, "value". Money has to have value, or what’s called "intrinsic value". This is value inherent in whatever is being offered as valuable. This is normally decided upon by many, many people over a long period of time, the ‘de facto’ standard. These peoples over a long time seemed to have chosen gold and silver as the preferred money. Our Constitution states that our money "shall be coined of gold and silver" as well. If you want to purchase real silver coin money, see the listings below:

Your post is correct that money coined in silver like the old us silver half dollars will have intrinsic value equal to their silver content’s value. Current clad coins are not worth the metal they are made from. Buying silver half dollars or other silver coins will help protect your earnings from the wealth eating effects of inflation.

Building on what Andrew shared, I think the further benefit is that it can be just lots fun to hunt down old silver coins, purchase them at bargain prices and watch as their value increases over time. We recently started doing this with our daughters and not only have they learned the value of money, but also of investing.

You’re right. We are printing money as fast as the presses will run. The great part about purchasing rare coins is the collector’s value and the value of the raw silver or gold in the coin.
